Ok after the last going off of people critiquing my stuff my guitar tone got a lot of attention. not much of it good. I decided to start from scratch again. So here is a bare bones clip, (It is just a quick clip of the song "Jane" by a band called "The Loved Ones" i didn't write it)

If people could please advise me what to do to sweeten it up a bit that would be a major help. I don't really want to do much post-processing i'd like to start from the source inwards, but i am open to suggestions in that arena.

My room isn't treated so i am thinking the low's may be overwhelming and gross. Interesting though, after taking a break and coming back to it the gain seems a bit high, i don't love high gain punk rock tones so i may lower it after for personal tastes?? But i will await some responses first.

Fire away please.

Shoot, post edit...

If you think you would or could sweeten it up as it is with EQ or parametric EQ I am open to sending you the clip via email or something? Then you could send it back to me and tell me what you did so i can do it and hear what is changing on my end.

If that makes sense ???

I'm not sure what sweeten it up means, but here's some post EQ processing.

The clip switches back and forth between (wet - post EQ) and dry. It starts wet and ends wet. IMO this is cleaning up the track.

I think the tone you have sounds good. Maybe could be a bit brighter but hard to tell at this stage. Not knowing anything about your music, I think you have a good starting tone.

The only thing I could say that may help is could you double the track with another performance and pan left and right to taste?

Thank you. I hear you the brighter part. I have referenced it on a few others devices and it seems a little distant and sort of muffled.

Essentially this is exactly what you said, a starting tone (a new one). I typically double all my rhythm tracks both right and left. I am doing this exercise purely to find a tone that seems relatively friendly to all ears. IF you know what i mean. I want to have something to use as a reference tone. Maybe i am crazy?

Thanks for putting time into it that? What was that you did to it at the first?
