Guitar Synth Unit

im looking to get a guitar synth unit that will make my guitar sound like a sitar ,a piano and various hornds and things.
i dont know jack about synths. the vg8 looks cool. is there anything cheaper that will do that kind of stuff?
 
Have a look for a used Roland GR-50 and a GK-2A.
Bang for the buck you won't be able to beat it. Especially if you can connect it via MIDI to some really good samplers or synths.
I'm still happy with mine (although I don't like the GK-2A - I've got a Godin LGX-SA...:D )
The Axon mught be something to look at too.
