I tried this really cool program last year called Guitar Synth 2.0,which allowed poor saps like myself who can't afford guitar synth hardware to mess around with midi guitar.I can't seem to find it anywhere amongst my stuff, and the website(lateralsol.com)appears to be down.I think I read that the developer is dead or dying.
Anyone know where this program,or something similar can be gotten?

I'm a poor sap too.

What exactly did this app do?

.

You could plug in your guitar and it would play back general midi patches. The registered version you could save midi files.I only messed with the demo,so I think it would only work with my SB equiped pc.
It was pretty neat, but very touchy.I only messed with it a couple times.Probably better that I can't find it,'cause it would probably make me need a midi guitar rig, which would cause terrible problems with my marriage! :D

Holy fuck, what a lot of fun!
Too much latency and inability to do string bends are the limiting factors(very limiting),but this has potential!

Are you using version 1.1? Somewhere I have a demo version on a disk that I got with a computer music magazine - not sure if that was 2.0 or what. I never did get it working, but I didn"t spend a lot of time on it. I will have to give it another shot. Apparently you can also use Hubi's Midi Loopback Device with it and trigger other MIDI devices...

I'm using the one you linked me to(1.1).I've seen ads for 2.0,but the site isn't active.
I was having trouble yesterday too and used the troubleshooting guide and got it to work.
Give it a try. It's quite a hoot.I'm not sure if the latency is just a fact of life or a consequence of my slow machine(Celeron 1.3).It doesn't seem to me to be that far from something usable.
