(Sorry, didn't have the file up on the internet before... oops! it's there now)
I'm recording onto my TASCAM 4 track, and I can't seem to get it to sound right! http://www.dranger.com/test.wav
I'm micing my Fender Stage 112 with an SM57, about .5 inch away from the grill.
It sounds muddy, like it lacks definition.
What could my problem possibly be? I first used the tape a year ago, and I'm recording over something. I'm using dbx and high speed. Could it be dirty heads? Or is it that the preamps in the TASCAM suck? Do I need to EQ or some crap like that? What could be a (cheap) solution to this problem? Or..does it sound good? (bouns points if you can name the song!
