guitar rig 3 through guitar amp effects loop?

I use guitar rig 3 for quiet practice at night. I use it through an m-audio jamlab into the usb port of my comp, which is an intel duo-core 1.6 ghz with 2 gigs of ram. The latency is set at 8 ms by default and I don't even notice any delay. Like I said, I have only used it for practice and not recording. Can I run it somehow through my effects loop on my 50 watt crate vintage club? Would I need a different interface because the jamlab only has a 1/8th inch out? Or can I use a converter plug. I play in a lot of different bands that require different sounds and I have been spying an all-in-one solution for a while. The crate vintage club 50 watt I have has INSANE headroom on the clean channel. If I put it on 3 it shakes the windows in the room. So I figured maybe running the comp into the effects loop on the clean channel seems promising. Anybody run guitar rig through a guitar amp?

It'd be interesting for sure. I think that the main drawbacks are system stability of your laptop (nothing like a BSOD to really kill a gig) and the inherent latency of converting from analog to digital, then back from digital to analog right in the middle of your guitar rig. You may not notice any latency but I'd be willing to bet that it'd become noticable if you were to output it back to your amp.

Its worth a try. The input and output of your Jamlab should be line level, which should work fine in the effects loop of your amp. Why not head to Radio Shack, buy a 1/8" to 1/4" converter and give it a whirl? If it does't work, there are probably a dozen other places you could use that adapter.

The "correct" way to run a modeller through a guitar amp is to bypass the amp's input and the modeller's speaker emulation. In other words run you computer into the amp's line in and turn off cab emulation. Of, course your mileage may vary.

Of course, if you are only using GR3 for FX, you could patch it in front, or use the loop. I have done all of the above, but still prefer a pedalboard setup when playing my amps.

Ahhh I see Mike. Thanks for the replies guys. So basically my sig chain should be Guitar->jamlab -> comp/guitar rig 3->jamlab out-> effects loop return (the send and return are the same 1/4 jack on the vintage club... i know...it's weird) That way I'm really only using the amp's 4xel84 output section. Okay, when I get home in two weeks I will give it a whirl. I will definitely report back. I'm sure it isn't gonna sound amazing but maybe the vintage club can give it some tube warmth. I'll try it both ways and see what happens.
