I want to amplify my guitar (Big Baby, Taylor) unfortunately there is no internal preamp or whatever it is inside a guitar that allows you to plug into an amp. What is the best way to go about doing this? Micing it? any help would be appreciated.

Miking it is definitely the best way to record it.

A Taylor... huhhhhhhh... I'm envious...

Micing is the way to go for recording in preference to a piezo-type pickup.Try all your mics to see what sound you like.Be sure to try Harvey's over the shoulder mic position, with the stand behind you and the boom reaching over your shoulder, mic pointing straight down at ear level just in front of the guitar face.

Sounds like you need to be a contortionist -- no matter how hard I try, I don't think I can get my ear down in front of the guitar face and play it too!
