I've recorded a metal band of my friends. All instruments are fine for me except the guitar that sounds too near respect the rest of the mix.
I've used a beta 58 for the front of the speaker and a old shure prologue l14 for the cabinet of a 2 cone marshall.(cheap microphone on cheap 10 inches cone ).
I used the 80hz cutoff to avoid the "proximity effect" but in the mix seems that the guitarist plays in room with you when you listen the cd!!!!!
I have doubled the 2 Tracks for 4 Guitar track in total and there is not any phase problem. (panned 75L and 75R and the other 25 L and 25 R).
any advice?
