I am totally a newbie in recording so this question migth sound stupid but any help would be greatly appreciated. I just got started with Cakewalk Music Creator on my PC. Now I have a keyboard which has MIDI output which I can hook up with my PC (without a mixer). I have a very crappy guitar processor DOD FX7. I was wondering whether it is possible to hook up my guitar processor with my PC as well and record some solos and stuff on tracks that I have on Cakewalk; or do I need to go thru a mixer?

You should have a line in jack somewhere on the back of your computer. Chances are its only an 1/8" jack rather than the standard 1/4" jack for guitar leads. So you will need to get a 1/8" to 1/4" jack adaptor, pretty cheap and easy to come by, then you just plug a lead going from the output on your DOD to the line-in on your pc. Make sure you use a line-in rather than a mic in if you have one.
