If I could snag this cheap enough and just for fun to see what it sounds like.... Has anyone hear one of these before?

could I bypass my tube combos preamp completely and just use this by going staight to my Serial effects loop input?

if i threw in a effects processor would the hook up would be?

Guitar>combo's input then...

output of pre amp > effects processor input > Combo Effects loop input > the loop it back to and the pre amp from the effects loop output?

would this work and optimize this equipment together ? it doesnt look like the preamp has a loop on it own.

Makes my head spin thinking about it.
Thanks to anyone taking the time to read and think about it.

Looks like you could run out from the "tube amp out" to what I am assuming would be the effects return on your tube amp... but that is just my assumption (line-level out to a line-level input).

You've got the basic chain right, however I don't see much of a point in running out of the fx loop into the preamp back to your amp if you are trying to use the preamp as your base sound. I would just run the output of the FX processor into the return of your amp (bypassing the preamp stage) and run your guitar straight into the preamp.

However, some interesting (and badass) tones can be had by running a preamp (like this, a distortion pedal, even a tube mic preamp) in the FX loop and using it as a "shaper" unit adding another gain stage to the amp's existing pre. Sometimes you can make really shitty amps sound killer by doing this if you know what your after.

Just a thought

This seems to be the way to go.
