Guitar Pod for Recording Acoustic?

Actually it sounds pretty good. I use the tube pre, turn the drive to 0, It sounds a bit creamier and I like the reverb. I didnt have to pay much at all for it, so it works out nice. I mainly wanted some control over my sound since the sound guy never gets it right. Adjusting the eq makes a huge difference, maybe the guy with the HD-28 has the eq set to crappy settings? If I had a martin I would probably just Get a really high quality pickup and go straight into the PA.

Well here is a problem. I have know idea what the hell I have done to create this. The problem is I started fiddling and forgot to write it down. So now that I look back, I have know way of knowing where I am at as the knob reset issue. If you move the knobs on a different bank then go to a saved tone, the knobs do not reflect where the settings actually are. So here is where I started. I know that I like the Tube Preamp setting for the amp models. The Drive is at about 25-30% (9 o'clock). The rest is a mystery. I knw that I started with preset BANK 2 B (Which shows to be a Dumble with rotary. (Whatever the hell that is).

What version Pod do you have? If you've got version 2 then theres a function to tell you what your setting are without having to put em on your computer.

are pods good for recording:
distorted guitars?
clean?
acoustic (sum it up...lol)?

or am i better off micing with a 57?

distorted: definetely
clean: depends on what kinda clean you want, but when you got a nice fender amp, mic the amp,

acoustic: I wouldn't do it:D

Ok. Thanks 2.0. What is the method? That may help here. My instructions are in storage. I will check the site if you don't recall.

Oh sure, you get me all worked up... Just kidding. I looked it up.

For anyone who needed this. You simply place you POD on the channel that you want the knob setting for. Then hold down the SAVE button. When you turn any of the knobs, the Tuner light will activate. Turn the same knob until both tuner lights are on as if you were tunning a string. So for example. Press and hold the SAVE button. Turn the Bass knob around and you will see for instance that the arrow on the right (pointing left) may be lit. Turn the BASS knob to the left until both lights come on. Repeat for each knob. Also, for the AMP model, reverb, effects tweak. Be sure that you get the setting for the secondary Effects by holding TAP and SAVE while turning the effects knob. Hopefully I've not confused anyone. I will get the clean tone for you NAVE when I get a chance.

I knew it was something like that :D

well, I have a POD so I figured I would chime in here. I prefer to use a mic, actually 2 mics, but...............if you're hell-bent on using the POD for your acoustic guitar, try the Line6 Layer setting, and set the gain down below 12 o'clock. If you go to like 1 o'clock or more, you'll be adding the distorted sound. It will be pretty bright, but if you turn off the presence, scoop the mids, and crank the low end, you should get a decent sound. I have a recording somewhere that I did using this setting, and I added a little reverb and chorus. Thought it sounded pretty cool. The drawback of course, is that processing an acoustic guitar tends to make it sound less like an acoustic and more like an electric. A mic stuck right in front of the durn thing is the way to go, but real difficult to do live, unless you can stand (or sit) perfectly still all night. You might rig up one of those James Taylor goose neck things that clamp to the body of the guitar and holds a mic. I've not been able to do this myself, but it can be done. I use a Fishman Rare Earth soundhole pickup, along with a Thinline Gold Plus under the saddle when I play live. Run two cords from the guitar to 2 seperate channels on the mixer, and let your soundman blend the two into one glorious sound. Anyway, try the Layer setting, and see how it goes. C-ya
