I've started working on a simple little guitar instrumental. Its not done yet. I've got the first 40 seconds or so recorded. There is no bass, cause I don't have access to one right now, hopefully i can get one in there to fill out the sound. I'd like to know what you guys think of both the mix, and the song itself.

Thanks.

Hi, traciiroxx.

Overall, I liked it musically. It seems like there was a mistake or two here and there. It's catchy and happy sounding. The mix was OK; I think I'd do something to make the two guitar parts sound a little bit more different so they don't wash into each other. It'll be interesting to see how the rest of it fills out.

What equipment (guitars, amps, boxes, etc.) were you using?

Please give mine a listen and post a comment or two.

Thanks!

Yeah, there are definitely some mistakes, but what you here is all a first take. I used Amplitube, set for a JCM800 with the gain slightly less than half, and a tube screamer in front of it with very little distortion but with the level all the way up.

The guitar is an Epiphone Les Paul Std. With Seymore Duncan Alnico II pickups.

Unfortunately I don't know when i'll be able to finish the rest of the song, my computer has decided to become uncooperative with recording this song.

Decent chops on the guitar my friend. Edit out the noise at the beginning and bring up the drums.

I agree with above...chops are tight, if a little unoriginal. Sounds like circa 1972....Rick Derringer noodling around at a soundcheck, perhaps. Yes, edit out the amp hum and room noise, bring up drums, pan guitars l/r. Rawk on!

Rockin' tune. Great car cruising music. I like the feeling you put into playin that geetar.

The mix is unfinished so i dunno what to comment on, seems like it's coming along well. It does have that older school sound to it which fits the music. If that was intended, good job.

Guitars sound pretty dam good for software. I've also gotten good results with a tube screammer in front of a jcm900 from simulanalog but that was for more heavier sounds.

Pretty cool, sounds good and mixed well, but it suffers from what seems to me a common guitar problem problem -- when you start to play fast stuff, you lose the groove. Once you lose the groove, you might as well not bother, because it will lose excitement and will not grab the listener.
