I just pulled my electric guitar (Ibanez RG) out it's 18 month exile in storage. Anyway, it still sounds ok but I'd like to record some tracks with it and was wondering if would be beneficial to change the strings. I only tinkered with it for about a month before putting it away. Anything else I should consider before recording music with it? Thanks.

Ibanez? In storage....... hmmmmm.....Leave it there.

Haha, guess it's safe to assume you aren't a Korn fan.

OK killer. Now for some REAL advice. Strings are only like six dollars a set. If they've corroded and you don't like the way they sound, change them.

Happy Birthday!

Give yourself a birthday present and have it set-up with new strings by your local guitar shop.....if not, definitely new strings at least.....

Right since strings are only 6 bucks guess I shouldn't have worried about changing them. Its the floyd rose tremelo that gave me the jitters. I've never changed strings on that set up before. But it shouldn't hurt too much to just trust it to the heshers at my local guitar store.

Thanks for the info.:D

I've have a guitar with a Floyd tremelo. it is the most annoying experience when I have to change the strings. Do yourself a favor & replace one string at a time. 1st time I took all of the strings off at the same time, & off popped the Floyd! It was murder trying to get it & new strings back on the guitar.

I use needle nose pliers to hold the string in place at the bridge. Takes me usually a good 45 minutes to replace the strings.
