Just wondering if anyone has any inputs, good or bad for the Guitar FX in these new units?

My first impression was noisy and crap. But being fair I didn't really put in much effort.
Recently trying a used-wonder POD, the desktop thing is nice ergonamically and theres some good and bad.

which lead me to asking if anyone wanted to share any tips or tricks on the guitar-processor on these new units? (assuming their the same FX units/DSP)

Coolcat, I have found the 2488 multi-effect processor to be very noisy - at least the few times that I've accidentally turned it on - so I'm avoiding it. I run my guitars direct via a POD XT Live, so I do all my guitar processing with the POD and leave the guitar tracks completely dry.

I still want to try them out for premastering, though - I'd like to see if they're useable on vocals.

Thanks.

I may try it agian this weekend, give it a better testdrive.
Been using a single coil (stratocaster) which is fairly noisy on its own.

I think it has a tuner in the 2488 too. Its been awhile since I read the manual.
Never had to use the manual much.

Dunno about the 2488, but the DP-01 has a built-in noise gate. If you crank it up from the default setting (about 10) to about 20, it helps the FX quite a bit.

I've also found the guitar FX in the 2488 too noisy for my likes. I use out board stuff with great success. I do love the 2488 though in most other respects.

I spent some time this weekend and playing around a bit trillians right about it can be made quieter.
Maybe its me, or i'm too lazy to really tweek in the sound i want, but most of the presets didn't do anything for me...especially the distortion settings.

the cabinet, 1x12, 2x12, 4x10,4x12 was noticeable when changed. alot of choices for sure.

going thru all the presets, definately need to set all the volume levels the same...geez, go form one to another and the vol,ume is 3x's on some presets!

i compared to my new-used POD and still seemed to like a few of the presets on the POD, and it being more analog with knobs seemed easier to tweek.

this only about 2hrs worth of effort. mainly the distortion just isn't there yet.
the Tuner was alright and aligned with the POD tuner well.

its just hard for me to get an amp/overdrive and mic going in my place...so a DI-distortion/overdrive setting would be great.

all the clean sounds, chorus, reverbs, flangers are fine with me.
