Hello, i got an sennheiser e825s and i recorded my guitar..

You can download the sample here:
Edit: I have added a new version to the 10 post..

In audition i added this plugins:
- Dynamics Processing
- Hard Limiting
- Multiband Compress
- Graphic equalizer

My microphone is very closely to the amp

What do you think?
Do you like the sound?
What else can i do to get better sound?

I can't tell for sure, I'm at work with shitty PC speakers, but it sounds pretty scooped. By itself, no problem. In a heavy mix it may not cut thru. Needs more mids, probably less lows.

Why?

Figure out what you want it to sound like first. Then listen to your raw recording without all that stuff on it, and then try to figure out what you need to do to get it from here to there before throwing a bunch of redundant plugs on it (Dynamics processing, hard limiting *and* multiband compression? Kinda like shooting a man with three different guns ;) )

Also, you really need to check the sound of the guitar in the mix with the rest of the instruments - assuming you're not just doing a guitar solo. What sounds great soloed is not necessarily what will sound great once you mix it in with the other instruments.

What do you mean here? I can't understand you

Hmm, thanks for the advice..

The sound is better i think
What do you men by "better". This is not a frivolous question. It gets to the heart of the matter.

I'm asking you what YOUR opinion is. What do YOU hear and how does it differ from what YOU want it to sound like?

The point is you can't get from here to there unless you have an idea of where "here" is and where "there" is.

There is no generally "right" sound, there is only whatever sound you want to achieve. You have to know that before you can do anything more.

i can't get the sound i want.. maybe because i have a cheap 100€ amp..

Don't give up on it just yet.

Can you try to explain what you feel is missing from the sound you have; i.e. what does the sound you want have that this sound doesn't?

Sonixx makes some good points that you probably need to work more on the tone at the source itself. Maybe the amp may not be the best, and sure, there's a chance that might be making it more difficult, but I'll bet that there's plenty of room for improvement in both dialing in the amp tone itself and in the mic positioning.

I have some ideas, but I truly believe it would be more helpful if you try to work it out a bit in your head and then in words just what you hear and feel is missing (or maybe too much) in the current sound, and we can all work on more specifics from there.

I think that now i like the sound..what do you think?

Dude, I don't want to be harsh. And maybe others are just being polite...or maybe it's just a matter of taste. But that sounds horrible. Very horrible.

It's buzzy, either out of tune, or you're playing is making it sound out of tune.

But, like Glen and others have implied, if YOU like it, then that's all that matters. But you did ask for opinions, so I'm giving mine.

All those effects you're using (which you shouldn't NEED) are not going to save a bad source sound. If you feel that using all those effects is what's going to save it, you're taking the wrong approach. It should sound good at the source.

Anyway, like I said, I'm not trying to be harsh. But, in my own experience, the best help I ever got was from people who were brutally honest and might have even pissed me off enough to work at making things sound better.
