I've got some cheap guitar cables that keep cutting out on me and I'm starting to get sick of it... What are some good quality cables? How much should I pay for them?

Are Mogami and Clarity good quality cable brands?

Please help out.

Cheers,
Stan

I use all sorts of cables, but have found Planet Waves to be consistently pretty good cables.

ive been playing for years and i find that any old guitar cable works fine if you take care of it.

My advice is to go for reliability and ignore snake oil claims of "clarity", "transparency", etc. You should be able to get a good durable guitar cable for under 20 bucks.

And (again this is just my advice) stay away from anything that Monster Cable makes. Not that they are bad cables or anything, it's that they are way overpriced, and Monster Cable's business practices alone would make me spend my money elsewhere. Google "monster cable litigation" to see what I mean. Jerks.

I agree that Monsters are way overpriced.... if you are pro and can afford dropping 50-100 bucks on a cable then fine.. but for the average joe I would go with Planet Waves...

Their cables are consistently good quality and last forever - I believe they actually have a lifetime warranty on them whereby if they fail you can send them back to be repaired/replaced...

The thick -jacked gold plated ones are great...

So what's the concensus on Mogami?

I recently picked up some Horizon cables, they were cheap. I haven't tried them out yet, because I haven't had to! :o :D

george l's.

c'mon, get with the program!!

buy yourself an expensive mogami, then get a george l's put together.....
a/b them side by side, look at the bill for each, and say 'doh'!
