what would you guys suggest are good speaker choices for a screamo, post hardcore, metal sound. i have no knowledge in speakers, but ive heard some names : vintage 30s, celestion, eminesce?

also, what is ohm? 8,16? does this effect the sound at all?

please give me some advice here

You may have slightly different considerations if you are looking at recording specifically or live playing.
I like Celestions.
Go to the Celestion website to hear clips describing each speaker.
G12T-75's and Vintage 30's are great choices for metal guitar. Especially a mixture of the two.

The "Ohm" rating of 8 or 16 is the resistance of the speaker. That will be the load that you amplifier sees. What you select will depend on how many speakers you will use, and at what load your amp is designed to operate. Most typical amplifier heads are switchable from 4/8/16 ohms so that shouldn't be a problem. Two 8 ohm speakers in paralell will yield a 4 ohm load for the amp. Two 8 ohms in a series will yield 16 ohms. There are several combinations. You can find plenty of information about wiring speakers and resistance all over the web I'm sure.
