In this cabinet (or in cherry, your pick):

Ported to yield flat response down to 50Hz or so. Controls on rear panel, cloth grille or this metal grille on the front:

Not anything you'd want on a stage because it would get knocked over, but it'd look real fine with your home decor.

What say ye?

Or you could just marry a woman who doesn't mind your gear being visible. Looking around from where I sit here in the living room, I can see three guitar cases, an accordion case (not mine), two guitar amps, two mic stands, and the Keal case I keep my "gig bag" stuff in. No doubt about it; I married the right woman.

Instead of moving your equipment, move your wife. :p

But in all seriousness, that doesn't look bad at all.

Yeah, it is purdy, makes me want to build one. Lawyers might buy it to decorate their offices and pay too much money for it.

I think I'd like to do that high-voltage transformer-output MOSFET circuit I've been dreaming about. It would have two controls, "volume" and "tone", so I could use strat knobs to save on silkscreening :D

You should install that blue tooth technology into it.

Hmmmmm? Disguising a guitar amp to look like furnishing to match home decor, interesting concept. You got any ideas for disguising a sofa to make it look more like a drum set so it matches the decor in the studio?

Yes, whoopie cushions :D

I think I'm going with 2x 8"s, makes the math a bit easier.

Make her scream in the sack and she will let you park your halfstack anywhere you want.

Why is your wife out of the kitchen in the first place?

:p

Yeah, when you chumps have impregnated a female more often than I have, we can talk.

No, this is an amp for the mature taste. How about this, amp on a stand:

Needs a way to bolt the speaker down though, methinks . . .

I got an old Magnatone that my wife lets me keep in the little sunroom right off the living room. Kinda blends with her furniture (OK, not really, it MOTS, but it still looks cool in a way).

I've got some whoopie cushions on order.

The last time I played my guitar with an amp in the living room was when my wife took the kids on an out of town overnite.

Or if your serious about your music, you convert a spare room into a music room. Instead of bitching about your wife not accepting the fact you're a part time Rock 'n Roller, shouldn't have married her if she doesn't dig it.

Newbs . . .

This is my "music room":

When *your* wife lets your drop the change on construction doing things like soundproofing, floating clouds, extensive in-wall wiring, slanted walls with big soffit-mount monitors (nearfields suck), and oh yes, let's see, a PIPE ORGAN (still under construction), then you can tell me about how to treat females.

In the meantime, we can get back to the actual topic under discussion, which is AMPLIFIER DESIGN for fun and profit. Especially that profit one.

So, if you have nice decor in your public rooms, an attractive amp and guitar tastefully set in said room are an *enhancement* to the appearance of your abode. Of course, if you're a broke-azz musician, you live in your drummer's garage anyway, so you wouldn't realize that actual people who have jobs (the kind that pay a salary and not in beer--ironically the word 'salary' is derived from . . . oh never mind) sometimes spend serious money on attractive-looking baubles, especially home-theater sized baubles. And I don't know about you, but I'd like to take away some of their money.

PS to JCH: nice amp!
