Hello,

I apologize in advance for such a long story here.

I've been using a Tascam unit for my demo recordings for many years now. I've been very happy with those basic demo ideas to take back to the band, and the studio.

I want to do a solo project now, and I need to get more than a simple "demo" together. I'd like to do detail home studio work. I'm also pretty computer literate, but "NOT" Music software literate AT ALL, so this is really new for me to try recording to the computer.

Here is what I want to use / or have:

Computer I have:
Windows XP Pro
AMD 2.4 Gig Processor
2 - 40 Gig Hard Drives - 7200 RPM
1 Gig RAM
CD Burner
DVD Drive
6 - 2.0 USB Ports
ASIO 2.0 Compliant Sound Card ( VERY BASIC )

Software I have in the box - not installed yet:
Guitar Tracks Pro - 3.0
Steinberg Groove Agent

Computer Interface:
Guitar Port - by Line6 ( This thing is VERY COOL ! )

I want to use:
Direct input for my Electric guitars
Direct input for my Korg
Direct input for my Vocal mike
** I don't want to have to setup "50" interface cards / boxes to make this happen.

My questions:

1 - Will Groove Agent work with GT3 ?

2 - Do I need a better sound card / interface ?

3 - Should it be USB or Firewire

4 - Is GT3 the best software for my needs - I am a guitarist and Keyboard guy, very much the guitar first is where my idea's come from.

Again my apology for the long note, and I appreciate any help you can offer.

Cheers,
Ian
