I have heard a recording made with the AM62 tube mic (with power supply included) and was favorably impressed. I've seen them used on ebay for as little as $400 in like-new condition, at which price it would be a great deal. At the current new price of around $875, however, there is too much great competition. Check out the Studio Projects T-3 ($699 or less) and the Rode NTV ($499 or less), for instance. I don't know anything about their other mics.
