Guitar Center is now carrying the Groove Tubes convertable mic. It has a removable ball that is installed for vocals and removed for mic'ing instruments.
Anyone have any experience with this one? Any thoughts on how it might compare to other GT mics?

I got one at GC like 6 months ago. I would say it's quite similar to GT33, which I also own. The literature says it's a FET mic as opposed to class A FET for GT33. The specs are slightly different too. Hyper-cardoid vs. cardoid, self noise etc. With my voice they sound about the same.

I did a 19 mic shootout on accoustic guitar not too long ago, and I threw in the Convertible for a grin. To my surprise the convertible sounded better to me than the GT33. Not that it means a whole lot, I'm sure I screwed up here and there with mic placements and such.

I would say it's worth the $70. I know I know, GC's price is $99, but all you have to do is ask and the price drops to $69 :-)
