Freight collect sounds interesting. However I am unable to find much of anything about freight collect of FedEx website or Google.

You'll still have to charge us for PayPal charges for the microphones.

Well, it's less convenient for me because someone has to be there to pay, right?
I think that if no one is at home to pay the driver, they leave a yellow pick-up slip telling you where you can pick up your package. You then take that slip to the FedEx building, pay up, and they give you your package.

Chance,
What is this PayPal charge I keep hearing about? It says all over their website that PayPal is free for the buyer. I'm not sure I understand.

I'm open for suggestions. With almost 1000 mics thru this forum and several others, as well as countless studios here in the LA area, anything I can do to reduce time and money, will benifit everyone. I still don't have all the facts on the "freight collect" system yet, but will post ASAP

Indeed it is free for the buyer... but not the seller. So Chance being the seller would have to eat all the PayPal charges and since he is doing this essentially for free to be a good dude in the universe, it is only right we cover those charges for him. Whatever your total is, you likely will only pay 2-3% of the total in PayPal charges... so it should be meager.

Paypal charges sellers to use their service. Although there is no direct charge to buyers, the cost of using Paypal needs to be factored in somewhere so that it is covered. This cost can either be rolled into the price of the good or service that you are buying and paying for through Paypal, or paid for separately. I'd venture to say that no one is or should expect Chance to eat the cost of using Paypal to facilitate this buy. So, at some point, all of us will need to reimburse Chance for the Paypal cost he is incurring to do this transaction on our behalf.

COD shipping is fine for me. My wife is usually there to receive packages, but a few times when she hasn't been in the past, I've gone to the center to pick up and it's really no big deal unless someone lives 1000 miles from a shipping hub. I agree with APL, whatever is easiest for you because you're doing a lot for everyone already. If it causes someone an unbearable hardship to pay on delivery, maybe make a few exceptions on a case-by case basis if needed after you send the majority out collect.

Oh!

I guess I just assumed that he was making enough from each microphone to cover all expenses and still make a profit. I mean, isn't that how all merchants do it?

It's no problem, I'll pay it.

I wasn't complaining, I just didn't know. :o

if he doesn't make anything at all above the straight cost of the mics, overseas shipping and fees, he'll be losing money (tons of labor involved), so i think that's kind of his business in a way. i'd think he has to charge something at least for overhead (communications, etc.).

also keep in mind that when you send your paypal fee to chance, paypal will deduct a percentage from that payment too, so make sure you pay 3/4% (whatever it is) plus 3/4% of that. probably a very small amount per person, but in aggregate, it will amount to something at least.

Chance,
Are you making anything of this GB.
I certainly hope you are.
If not how can we give you a donation for all your hard work and effort.

THANK YOU!!!!!!!

I would be willing to give him a tip for all his hard work.

Freight collect is no problem here. Whatever works best for you sir.

If "freight collect" with FedEx is both cheaper for us, and easier to ship for Chance, then I am all for it! :)

Freight collect would be a real problem for those of us receiving these things at work. I doubt my employer would be too thrilled. (Note: I wouldn't mind.... :D)

i'm having mine sent to work, but then again almost everyone i work with has gotten in on my order haha.

Is that so, Chance?

Should we be thanking our lucky stars for getting these at cost or are you just not saying?

Actually there is little or no profit here for me, however, This is a learning platform for me as I will soon be offering mics and other outboard gear of my own design that I not only will make a profit, but your cost will still be as low as you see in this group buy. The reason that we all benifit, is because I am not using any of my own money up front. Your gear is pre paid by you. In this mannor, we all are a part of the process. I am working closely with some excellent engineers here and abroad. I hope to post some info and pictures on "whats new" soon.

that's so cool. it's pretty exciting to think that we all may be witnessing and participating in the beginnings of what could be one of the next big pro audio companies!

My order is coming to my work, too -- I could probably leave an envelope with the receptionist with the fee, if I had an idea about what it was going to be, whether exact change was required, etc. - overall, though, I'll manage - do whatever works best for you (Chance) and the group.
