On both units when you started adjusting the input gain, right at the halfway point as you turn between 2 notches the overload light comes on and the unit puts out a loud surge or pop. It does it at the exact same place on both units. I turned down the gain and worked the knobs back and forth thinking maybe it would stop, but after 20 times they still do it.

I wonder if there's a DC offset at the switch, and if so, if it would be reasonable to add a filter cap to get rid of it.... I'm not about to try to figure it out from the partial schematics I've seen, but you could check it pretty easily with a voltmeter. Put the black lead on a ground somewhere (e.g. the chassis or the shield of a plug plugged into it), then touch the red lead to each of the switch contacts and see if there's voltage present. Experiment and see if there's only voltage in certain switch settings.

Chance invoiced 20 orders this morning. Of course, mine was not one of them, but you all should check the user console just the same. Hey AC, when are we having another support group meeting?

Mine was!

Can't wait to get my hands on my 84s! Hope they sound as good as the reports I've read!

Hey all!
I got my (4) ACMP 73s and my (2) ACM 310s yesterday and started unpacking them and putting some through their paces.
The 310s are burning in right now and I unpacked 2 of the ACMP 73s an tried them out on my drum kit.
They sound really nice! Currently I have been using a combo of 4 channels of RNP and 4 channels of DMP-3. The kit sounds great, there is plenty of headroom and when the unit is pushed hard with the snare it makes it snappy and aggressive...Just what I was looking for.

There was just one observation that bugged me.

Obviously if I remember to turn down the output gain when I switch levels I will be OK. I just wondered if any one else had that problem?

Does it matter what type of mic is plugged in (dynamic, condenser)? Or does it do it with no mic attached?

I got invoiced last Friday morning and paid immediately.
User console doesn't say shipped yet but I would assume that is low priority and if my calculations are correct I should have a shipment arriving at the end of the week.
Too bad none of my bandmates are gear or recording junkies.
It's much more fun and easier to get a feel for new gear when someone is willing to come over and hang around during the testing process.

I can appreciate the red NO pain...been there but now I am in the clear.
So here is what will happen.
Gear will arrive at work more than likely Thurs or Friday morning.
I'm in busy season so I won't even get to unpack it until later in the day.
I'll drag it home and won't have any time until the following Tuesday to get it racked and patched.
Then I'll have to wait until the following weekend to actually start passing usable signal other than sitting at the board saying "tesing...testing...."

I will however make no "honeymoon" claims about sound and quality etc etc until I've played with the stuff for a while.New gear almost always sounds great at first.
And for the price no matter what I'll bet it's going to a great ride.

I have a good friend that sits in with our band from time to time, and he is busting to take the ACMP-73 and 84 for a spin. Unlike me, he makes his living playing, recording, and producing, and has a number of Neve 1081's in his studio. I paid last Wednesday and figure my gear will arrive late this week also, and after some playing around with it here, off we go to his studio. It will be lot of fun playing around with my new pre's with a friend, especially considering the silly price we paid!

I'm dying to get an idea of how these stack up against the real deal.

It does it with or without mics plugged in.
I tried dynamics and I tried condensors with phantom on and it always does it.

FWIW I have 42 orders or boxes (some orders have more than one box) that have been invoiced but not paid. Perhaps they haven't been checking their users console. When I get some time (?) I'll send individual E-mails as a reminder. Perhaps some were expecting E-mail invoices?

Is there any possibility to get my invoice for this friday as if not it most
probably will go to 2009. I´m sorry, don´t want to....

It's very possible because they are packing faster than I can invoice.

Hey Chance, My order is supposed to come via FedEx according the user console. Do I get any tracking numbers sent my way?...the reason I ask, is that I have the absolute greatest of luck with the UPS, FedEx, etc. dumping thousands of dollars worth of gear at my door if I am home or not. If I have tracking info. I watch it like a hawk and jet home once I get a delivery notice.

I am all paid up, just awaiting that last no to turn to yes.....

Yes. When Fed Ex picks up your order, it gets scanned. When they scan it, you, me, and the packers will immeadiately receive E-mails directly from Fed Ex.

Awesome, thanks for the info. I posted this over at GS too. You can ignore that one....
