Het fellers. I just put new saddled on my Les Paul Custom. I play hard and the strings pop out of the saddles - very frusterating. I had this problem before and someone grooved them a little deeper - problem solved. Can I do this myself or should I get a tech to do it? Waiting times are long and I don't trust those guys anyway. Advice?

Thanks!

You can do that!
Got any small files? And even if you mess it up, new ones are cheap, but you won't mess up :)
Also, check out stewmac.com for parts and tools

Just remember to go slow. Do a little and play alittle......
until you get it just right.
Heck- you don't even hafta remove the strings
Rock On!

Oh- you might have to raise the bridge to compensate when you're done

If you have a set of needle files this shouldn't be hard at all. Loosen one string at a time and move it out of the way, file the notch a little at a time and file in only one dirrection, be careful not to widen the notch or you may get a rattle or buzz. Set the string back in and check the hight, you want to get them pretty even. This is a fairly easy DIY project. After you finish either check the intonation or have it checked and set properly.
