I need some advice again (thanks already!)...Groove Tubes are described to have a "coloured" sound, in what sense? It gives a "boost/" in some way?

I am really unsure, because I have been thinking about buying a mic for many months now...and I will not get to test the mic first....

So, what do you think between these four (for guitar and mostly vocals):

Audio T 4033
GT 67
Shure ksm27
T3

marcello,

I have used a GT-44 during a session.....which is the smaller version of this same mic that groove tubes makes...probably has a different tube though as it is smaller in size. I was very impressed with the quality of the mic as well as the sound!!

In fact, afterwards I thought of the mic so highly that I was inclined to purchase the 2 GT-33 mics I have now that are FET versions of the GT-44.

Impecable quality for the money. You can't go wrong with the Aspen Pittman stuff! ( Vipre mic pre.....need I say more..?)

I say go for it...you won't be disappointed.

As for the "coloured" sound....it is nice and smooth in the midrange with a dash of sizzle on the high end"

Thanks for the reply!

Maybe I'll get a GT 33, and the 67...and use them at once...it's gonna be a bit expensive thought...

I own the GT 66, I think the 67 is just the multipattern version (?).
I love my GT66 and would highly recommend it.

The "colored" part is very subtle. It's hard to describe the color, but it's just a little smoother, creamier, richer quality to the sound. Still very articulate and not distorted at all tho, as maybe you would expect of tube warmth in guitar amps.

If you can't try this mic first to hear the "color" for yourself, go to a local dealer and try out a tube mic of another brand, should give you a good idea of what to expect.
