I just come back from an hour or so tour at GreyStudio over on Angelfire. kristian was kind enough to give me the link.

I recognized some of the names from here. I got to tell y'all, I'm really impressed. I thought you'd have a studio like mine.
Man was I ever wrong.
I'm so ashamed of my place now.
I feel like there is no way I can make anything resembling music in my room.

I rent a basement room, 12x12. Bed, Computer desk, chair, three computers, three amps, five guitars, some real small hardware for recording. Blankets on the walls. Books, CDs, cables, clothes, a dog. I have to step out into the basement to take a deep breath cuz there isn't any room to expand my lungs in here.

Ahhhhhhh!!!!!
I've whined enough.

You guys have some really nice studios.
I don't know what else to say about them.

Thank you Sir. I'm in the middle of another major renovation. When completed I'll see if he'll update my pix.:D

Track Rat.
I'll keep going back and looking for it.
You have a nice studio. All of you do. Some fancy, some practical. All get the job done.

I did some renovation last night myself. More bankets. Covered the door, and made a foam padding 'U' shape around the front of my small Marshall amp I use to mic my harps.
I coiuld hear some extra noise on the recording I did the other day. I figured the 'U' of foam with a mic in it facing the amp would cut it out. Haven't tested my handy work yet.

Some day I'll expand and use a garage or something.

Badgass - never be ashamed of what you've got! Just get the best out of it.
My first rehearsal and recording space was in the basement of my parents house, which had 2 gigantic gas boilers in it. When they kicked in you had to shout to be heard over them.
We just did everything in-between .....

I remember recording space like that. My place up in Harriman NY (first floor apartment) was immediately over boilers, pumps, and other such noisy things. Also, the lady above liked to wash her sneakers at 10pm every friday. Learned to schedule around bang, bang, bang, bang as well as the devices underneath clicking on and off.

Its amazing how we learn to adapt when in a pinch.

Ok.
I'm really not ashamed of the equipment, nor my room. I guess I just envied those guys with those great studios. One day, one day I'll have a room/building dedicated to nothing but recording.
There is a washing machine right outside my door. Not as bad as heaters or boilers.
I'm adapting.
Thanks for sharing your experiences.

Thank ye

Hey there guys. Thanks for the compliments on the site. Even though John made it, it was him and me that started the project in motion, so on his behalf I will thank you.

I'm going to be posting more now, I just finished school last night. It's been ONE whole year since I was posting messages here. Hopefully people still remember who I am!

Later,
-Brian

wondered what the hell happened to you. Good to have you back :)

Ahhh yes

sjoko2 - It's SO good to be back! I'm going to have time! YAY! :)

yeah yeah

Yeah yeah... I'll get there. I have to take some R & R time before I start again.

Excellent John and good to have you and Brian back

:)

Looking forward to those updates

I like it!

John, I like what you've done. You really did clean it up. We weren't really expecting it to grow as much as it did when you initially set it up, so you were pretty much retrofitting it the whole time. Now it looks like it looks this way because it should be, not because you were just making things fit. I like it!

I also noticed you finally changed the name of the opening page to "Studios Under Construction," instead of "Greys Studio." It makes more sense definately to have it named that :) but I liked it the other way too. hehe.

Later,
-Brian

PS - Isn't it just feeling like the good ol' days?
