Hey guys, i was wondering if you could guide me in the direction of what type of drums the band green day use in their fast songs (which are most of them), as i need that kind of thing for some songs i will be doing lol

i mean the kind of drums used in minority, basket case, welcome to paradise, etc

im presuming they are punk drums, but where to get the loops from?

thanks

Try looking at the old videos to see what drums he was playing. I just searched google for you and didn't come up with any good information.........I did only spend about 2 minutes searching, though.

I know now he's playing Ludwig drums. I'm pretty sure it's an all maple kit, and from what I remember seeing his toms are pretty big in size (1 rack, 2 floor).....

hope that helps.

found out he uses these drums:

Drums: Ludwig Custom Silver Sparkle Lacquer Finish
~14" x 6 1/2" Black Beauty Snare
~22" x 18" Bass Drum
~14" x 10" Tom
~16" x 16" Floor Tom
~18" x 16" Floor Tom
Cymbals: Zildjian
~14" K/Z Dyno Beat Combination Hi-Hats
~19" K Medium Thin Dark Crash
~19" A Medium Thin Crash
~22" Deep Ride
~20" K Constantinople Orchestral (Crash-Ride)
~19" K China
Timpani: Ludwig
~23" Timpani
~26" Timpani
~Remo Weatherking Emperor X batter heads
Pedals: DW
Sticks: Zildjian Tre Cool Artist Series

but umm i mean, where can i find drums loops similar to his style of playing

hahah lmfao ye i was being a bit random or stupid there i guess  lmao im laughing lol

Hmmm,
I wonder when he switched to Ludwig?
That Green set that he played for the last 10 or so years was a Slingerland. When Slingerland came back out, he was one of the only guys with an Endorsement deal with them. Here's a picture of his signature series line.

ah ye your probably right there :p i think the set that i listed is the set he used in american idiot.

part of the question is, what samples did they use.

I'm pretty sure he switched to Ludwig starting around the time the "American Idiot" was recorded. I think I saw an interview on T.V. (AOL music on demand maybe?), where he stated that.

At woodstock Tre played a DW which are absolutely beautiful sounding but hard with the snares to get that tone he has but also theres the Ludwig,Singerland, and the Leedy (i believe the shells are gretsch and the heads just say leedy something like that) there is an issue of a Modern Drummer magazine with Tre.

Tre Plays a Leedy which I believe are Gretsch shells you can buy the set for around 5,000 to 10,000 but the shells r aged or at least that's what they told me when I was curious b/c I just love that GD tone just so rock punk perfect 2 me especially the snare but DW r right up there with Tre's I love my DW's so if u want a gr8 drum serlike that DW sound close (except the snare) but the snare I have just sound gr8 got it 2 sound close tho

In the Modern Drummer with Tre Cool, he states he plays very hard and heavy, to the point that he has had knee surgery (at age 39!) and he literally disintegrates drums. Apparently, only the new Leedy drums can hold up to his pounding.
*NOTE!* I neither condone playing like a 900-pound gorilla nor applaud anyone who does.

I totally condone playing like a 900 pound gorilla and applaud those that do.

I don't buy that at all, why on earth would you need knee surgery after playing drums? I can imagine fucking up your wrist, but the knee?

I like his drumming, but it's not like he does anything difficult or fast. He probably hurt his knee while kneeling down to suck Billie Joe's asshole.

 Green Day videos will never quite be the same.

Frank Edwin Wright III, a.k.a. Tre Cool, is a German-American bagman for the bedrock bandage Green Day. He replaced the band's above bagman John Kiffmeyer in 1990. He has aswell played in Samiam, The Lookouts, and the Green Day ancillary projects The Network and Foxboro Hot Tubs.

Thanks for the info, fagbot.
