Graphic Equilizer

Is it possible to connect a normal hi fi equiliser to a mixer?
Bear in mind that those equilizers are meant to go through a tape deck and then on an amp
I tried this way but i get a lot of noise
i also tried difrent ways but cannot get rid of noise.
The eq is fine cause i have tried several difrent ones.
Is there a way or am i wasting my time?

It should be no problem. Step 1 is to check your cables.
Also try different ways of hooking up, it could be caused by one of your busses and not the eq itself. For example, try 2 auxes send/return or the insert on the masterchannel.

Do i connect the eq to the mixer or to the amp?

Hi fi eqs usualy connect in between the amp and a tape deck creating a loop between them
Since i have far too many channels on the mixer then i can use i have also connected the tape deck on the mixer.
If i introduce the eq it plays up.
At this stage the only thing that connects to the amp is the mixer from control room out to aux in amp.

You should probably connect the EQ to an FX send/return on the main bus of your mixer. You can then switch it in and out. Your noise migh be coming from the difference in signal levels. There are a couple standards for signal levels and consumer audio gear does'nt quite fit into either really well. I would take a good look at what lever your board is running (+4 or -10) and see if there is any documentation on your EQ. Although you can usually get around this by adjusting levels on the mixer, sometimes you get wierd results when the signals don't match.
