I'm really new to home recording. I bought a tascam us-1800 usb audio interface and I'm currently deciding between reaper, cubase, or pro tools for my recording software. At the moment I'm trying out reaper and its the only one of the three that I have installed. I close all other programs and stop any unnecessary processes before I turn on my device and start up reaper so there is very little distracting the computer. When I turn monitoring on in one of the tracks I'm recording and I play guitar I'm not getting any lag issues but there is a consistently quiet pop that will gradually become louder until anything I play is breaking up into distortion, then after that the signal starts lagging behind. I can't figure out what's causing this. and I've tried adjusting the asio latency up and down but I'm not hearing any differences. Can anyone help guide me towards the right direction?
