Review:
The little 101 is a slick-looking box. It has a green LED that illuminates when voice or instrument is piped in and goes to red if overloaded or clipping.
Can bounce in and out of red with no real problem if not sustained.
XLR mic in and out easy access. Input knob goes in clicks for increase in db. It has loads of boost -- up to 60 db.
Have not yet tried the Hi-Z plug.
The "Trim" knob is interesting. A little plus or nothing in db -- kind of mellowing knob.
Have not yet messed with the High Pas Filter.
Maybe someone can clear up the use of the TRS unbalanced output cable termination for me.
I don't have any TRS cables in my studio but will get one.
The box produces a nice clear signal. I haven't tried all of my mics but will give them all a try in time. I used the AKG 3000B for the first test. I cut a vocal on a pre-recorded set of tracks. The vocal "clarity" is noticeable.
The unit is superior to my ART but I'll still use that unit for multiple inputs from synth & drum box.
If anyone can give me a few words about use of the TRS cable, I'd appreciate it.
