I'm not hear to talk about tech stuff.
I like the content
"gotta pay for what ya take now and later judge"
How true............
Good scat work

Clean as a whistle...as usual. And then the harmonies kick in...sweeeet. I'm kind of a sucker for harmonies...well, I'm kind of a sucker, period.

If there's any EQ on the vocals, you did it well. If there's not, then you tracked them well.

The only thing I don't know about is the kick (lol, yes; the OTHER element)

It sounds sweet on the monitors, but they don't have much below 50Hz, so I honestly can't tell if you'd be in danger of blowing a sub in a car or not. Same deal with the headphones; sounds cool, but with the caveat that these things don't rattle either, lol. BTW - I hit the "loudness" EQ on my system, and it still held together well, but ONE MORE TIME, lol...only the car will tell.

Right on! I loved this one. I didn't hear any pumping and really, I can't come up with any complaints. Sounds great!

Chris

Hokay. I guess I didn't track using the limiter on this one then.

Thanks for listening - this is really helpful. I'm trying out new approaches to EQ, and I wanted to know what it sounded like to other ears.

Chris - I used the splitter to make submixes of the vocals and the kick. On the vocals, dumped everything below 90 Hz. On the kick everything below 20 Hz. BTW, my monitors don't tell much truth below 70 Hz either, but I got an idea of how much energy's down below that using the splitter. I owe you a crate of beer for that one.

Gotta pay for what you're taking
Now or later George

cool tune, brought vision of shiny patent leather shoes tappin in time and fresh haircuts. I really like the smooth eq, no bass or mid balloons in it, and clean. I`m liking an open top end on eq more and more, I need a little more sizzle on the top but I`m going deaf so dont worry bout it. . Kick sounded like it was about 4 ft in front of my foot as I was listening :)

1000% better than the last one. throw away the limiter!

like the groove too. i'm fighting the temptation to load this into a project and sing along.

If I told you the harmonies were just the tiniest bit flat in a few spots you'd pour over every source track for the next 6 weeks. :D

I like them that way. Mix is excellent. This is beautiful. You are done.

Got marilyn all excitable! SID broke a string after a about 20 seconds, so he and the POD were sidelined.

I've already recorded an acoustic guitar track to this.

I'll PM ya dobie!

I won't post any unauthorized shit!

But you gotta pay....

(just kidding)

rrrrrroaring 20's! very cool..

It probably would have been cool to have some music eventually come in, but I just got finished listening to 'fidel' so it goes well with that tune.. good sounding bass drum.. The harmonies were refreshing.. The words are all too true..

It really sounds like your saying 'judge'.. It actually works better that way because who the hell is George anyway?

nice kick.. and needed more harmonies thruout...maybe. I wouldn't want to compare this to a jazz scat singer, as it wouldn't stack so well, but in YOUR style, it is very nice. Amongst some of your other tunes, this would be nice. No "hand trumpet" on this? howcome??

:D It gave me a giant shit-eatin' grin. This is really great.Kick drum comming thru great, all vox at good level. No complaints....wait...the last word of the song should have been pronounced more.Really shove thta last note out.Nice deep "judge",but it'll do.Nice original material. :D

Very good, very different...

And I never thought I would hear someone here who reminded me slightly of Rory McLeod!

Like everyone else, I don't hear any pumping, but I too am not listening on $10,000 monitors.

I do hear a kind of 'spitty' sound on the lead vocals - I can just see a line of spittle in your mouth - how's that for a mental image?

Overall it's just super in my book.
Love the kick drum - has a nice 'liquid' sound. Love the background vox - if they're a little flat, I'll have to take someone else's word for it.

Cool hehe-Reminds of a Bugs Bunny cartoon for some odd reason. Good clean recording and real nice vocal performance-thats some fast singing at parts and you maintain your enunciation and melody very well. Okay except for the line "bangin in the street for some money in a cup" where you slip up a little. Don't want you to think I'm here for lip service hehe. Very cool tune-takes a little bit O guts to rely on your voice alone, can't remember the last time I heard something like this.

btw dobro, you never sent me your email address so i could paypal you for your cd.

Look, some anal rententive wannabe engineer (plenty in this forum) with $10,000 monitors is gonna find something wrong with it. I think it sounds great. Another great little song, no problems with the mix.

Sorry I couldn't... help?

What's the bpm? I like to fool around and add stuff to your songs.

:D :D :D :D :D

Boy, did I need to hear this! Refreshingly clean and lots of fun to listen to.

Nice vocals my friend!!! Rich, full and fine intonation for the most part!

I wouldn't add a thing! In fact, I would consider dumping the kick & replacing it with a finger snap as the vox are so pure!

Damn, "Mammies lil' babies like shortnin bread" never sounded so good! ( makes me wanna put on the skillet right now!!!)

peace,
Ralph

Very good performance! The only thing that I would change is maybe swapping out the kick for a tambourine or maybe maracas OR maybe even snapping fingers... :D

Sounds great and the harmonies rule!
