Suck 'em and see!
I'm not a singer...that's the reverb excuse out the way. Drums are programed and I'm trying to make them sound not programed. Right now I think I hear too much snap on the snare and too much thump on the kick. Bass and guitar...as the vox are scratch tracks. Yeah the drums are loud cause that's what I want the comments on.

Please help

P.S. I'm a bass player....singing is my Sunday job

I think the hihats got a bit washy with the mp3 conversion. Drums were done in Fruity loops. Guitar was through a behringer V-Amp Pro, DI'd the bass through an M-Audio Tampa, vox went through the tampa too via an electrovoice RE 20

Snare doesn't bug me at all. It could have a little less top end if you want it to fit in better with the kit, but if you hadn't mentioned it, I wouldn't have said anything. Kick might have a little too much ass in it, but it's not crapping out my monitors or anything. What do you have against tom rolls? lol.

Quit ripping yourself on the vocal...it's good. Actually, my biggest gripe with the mix is the ridiculous amount of reverb ont he guitars.

Oh, there was a tom roll, lol...and another. Nice decay on the fake cymbals, but they do sound pretty weird...might sound better at a higher bitrate. For anything with drums, 160 is about as low as you need to go.

thanks for the quick reply Chris. There's a small amount of small room verb via an Alesis microverb III on the guitar. I'm starting to notice how metalic the lexi mpx100 sounds on the decaying vocals. You can onlt paint with the tools ya have I guess.

Big assed kick....reminds me of an ex wife I once had

Reverb abuse!

Honestly 7% reverb will get you far. Anything over 20% is heresy in my book.

Remixed without the reverb blurring everything this might be kind of good.

I like to bury myself, Cloneboy. If I had a small penis I'd buy it a PCM81

My drums ok?

The drums sound alright. They are sampled drums right? how did you do the snare rolls then? Sorry to say it but guitar doesnt sound that great, maybe needs some more guitars or another instrument to thicken up the song.
One of the ways that i usually notice that drums arent "live" is that every hit of a drum is identical with the attack and release etc.
I like drums to sound not too consistent in sound if you know what i mean.

Not Bad

not bad track. Drums sound fine there is the little bit of kick in the bass but the snares fine. A lil to much reverb though. Nice track though

all in all it sounds good to me....song progression wise, i would drop the Am F C G to 2 rounds after the drums kick in

your voice is good, no need trying to hide it. :) however, there is some performance issues with the harmonies... not so tight.

As for the drums... what samples are you using? they are decent, but some of drum sounds is kinda cheessy.... dun like the cymbals.... the crash sounds like a big tambourine and decays in a strange way....

Was interested to hear how the bass sounds through the Tampa... but don't really dig the bass tone... but maybe that's what you are looking for.....

ecktronic: the snare rolls are chromatic samples

LeeKing: all the drum hits are from ProSamples #43: Reat Kits, apart from the cymbals. They were just a hybrid mix of some samples I had laying around.

I'm not to bothered about the song or the performance I'm just trying to get a decent sounding kit I can zip up and use on further projects. Wish I had the space to mic up a real kit

Please explain chromatic samples as i dont really understand. Chromatic means "many" kinda? Are the snare rolls tempo changable is that what it is?

very rem in my opinion, atcually i like the vocals alot. though i agree. i hate reverb with a passion you DON'T need. it, there's plenty of unwanted reverb and room sounds available for free. the drum mix sounds fine though, maybe a little tiny bit less kick and i would add a bit to the hi hats and ride

Reverb abuse indeed. If you'd play this at a pro studio, you'd be hang right then right there.

A turd can be made shiny, but it's still a turd. Yes, that was a comment on the vocals. If you can't sing, don't sing ;)

The bass sounds alright. Drums sound very programmed. Some snare fills sounded alright (like the one near 1:50) but all in all it's very samply-sounding.

Also, it's not much of a "mix" in the sence that it's basicly just a couple of tracks put together. There's not even half a note that's somewhat "fancy". Try juicing it up with whatever you can.

I think you skipped what I asked in the post Halion. The Bass vox and guitar are all scratch tracks, it's not a mix. I just want some feedback on the drum samples I'm using

First off, I'd double that lead guitar and pan one hard left, the other hard right to get more space in the mix.
As for the drums they sound pretty decent for fruity loops. I use sampled drums myself and I'm always trying to get them to sound 'real' too. I did some covers to get the hang of it. I got a collection of exellent samples. Pm me if you want to know where to find them.

The drum samples are okay. Everything else needs some help.

Hope this helps. :)
