I want a compressor,limiter. I am mostly interested in getting a better vocals down. I'm looking at: LA-2,1176,Distressor. Seems the distressor would be the most versitile being good for guitars etc. LA-2 is kind of limited to vocals far as I've read. Thoughts? Thanks,Jim
 
They are all must haves. You might be able to get two channels of LA2A or 1176 for the price of the Distressor but it takes some patience on Ebay. I wish the used price on Distressors would come down. They are still going for almost new prices.

I'm thinking your prices are way off. I can get 2 distressors for the price of 1 LA-2 I think. right? LA-2 's are about 2200-2300. Distressors are what, 1300? The distressors seems to be more bang for the buck.Im going by what I've read. No practical experience.

I've seen two racked LA2A's for around $1200 on ebay. Obviously used. You just have to watch out for them. There are some 1176's and LA2A type comps for under a grand on there right now.

anything like an 1176 or an LA2A will most definitely not finish the auction under a grand unfortunately!

but in response to the original question, i'd recommend the distressor! i got one on ebay (used) for around 1100 and even after everything i had read about it, all the great reviews, etc it's still better than that even and blows my mind. worth the scratch if you got it!
