Got a few new tunes up if ya want to give a listen.

I have been working on learning how to master my own songs. I think I'm getting better at it, but not great by any means.
I am going in soon to get about 10 songs converted to wave files so I can load them on my setup and mix & fix and re-retrack some things.
I know there are some issues with some mix components on these and have tried to work with them the best I can for now.

Any way if you want to take a listen. I just put up "faces" "Fair weather friend" and "queen of the nile"

man, sounds good. very loud without sounding like ass. very polished and 'pro' sounding. my only nitpick is the vocals seem kind of loud. everything else sounds spot on to my ears.

Ya I'm trying to not over squish. I used to do it pretty bad. How I am trying to only squish it where it needs it and then run through a limiter and take it to a little above peak (or what I can get away with). I used to take the limiter thresh hold 2 or 3 db below peak and really kill the mix.

Your right about the vocals. Soon..............

the 'simple' songs are some of the best ones. bands like KISS, AC/DC, and the ramones have had very long-lasting careers while playing 'simple' songs. personally, id much rather hear something simple that rocks with feel and emotion over something that may be overly-technical with a bunch of different shit going on.

Ya, I was thinking about that. I should have known you'd like it being a Kiss fan. I'm saying that as a kiss fan Me and my brothers had the whole kiss bubble gum card poster when I was in kindergarden. Had no Idea for years 95% of there songs were about sex lol. I am personaly partial to Gene. Funny thing is I don't think I own a single kiss cd now. Oh waite, I have destoyer. Popping it in right now. I love creatures of the night, but the mix on the cd just sucks sooooo bad. I think it was the vinal that had a good mix, maybe the tape?

lol. i have and still listen to all of their make-up era stuff. even 'the elder'. lol. after they shed the paint, i lost interest. i had the bubble-gum cards too. ace was always my favorite member, even though i was gene for 3 halloweens in a row when i was a kid. haha. Well you and our guitarist. He's Ace & Malcom guy from way back.
I'm more of a modern metal guy my self. Thrash rythem is more my specialty. We often joke that between the two of us we would make a pretty awsome guitarist. He wants my right hand and I want his left hand I never get to write anything to extreme rythem wise cause I have to think of him and it's hard for me to play that stuff and sing at the same time.

You know I am just happy if someone likes it. You can call it what ever you please (lets not go crazy though). I'm listening right now looking for the loaf. I guess I can see it a bit. You know "dash boar lights".

Ido 1957: Not 4track just always raw. I've had vocal trainig and all that, and I'll be damned if I can apply it to this song. It's bad because you tend to hear what's not right when you know what you're supposed to do and don't do it. Knowing you guys like it means the world. Helps get me out of the knit picky funk I have been in.
