Anybody ever heard/used/heard of Meinl cymbals?

I know that they seem to be a pretty big company in Europe but I have never seen any stores that carry them here in the midwest. I have seen ads in Modern Drummer so I thought I'd seek them out.

I went to their site (http://www.meinl.de) and the stuff looks pretty cool but no prices, no sound samples, no dealers list....

ah well.

i can return a favour here! i used meinl's a few years back, they ain't the worlds greatest cymbals, but the aren't bad at all...

i used a 16" meteor crash, nice not too bright similar to zildjian scimitars, but three times better

14" hats were a little "soft", they didn't have that nice crisp cut, and they didn't seem to hold it together too well if you play them open.....

finally the 20" sterling ride is one of the nicest "bright" ride cymbals i have heard, plenty of charachter, cuts through, and holds its own very nicely... i don't know if you've heard of zyn cymbals, but its basically the same idea as those, but heaps heaps better...and the bell was nice too, i wish i hadn't traded it in it was a lovely ride, very big sound

o.k. so i went to the site, and none of these lines are there any more! the sterling is probably the marathon n-18 seiries the meteors one of the other marathon sieries, i have heard the rakers, the aren't too bad for semi pro.

their lower priced cymbals like the marathon range would probably wipe the floor with scimitars or b8's, but i don't think the pro stuff quite cuts the mustard

i'm pretty sure the r.e.m. drummer used 'em
