Ok. I'm kinda new at this. Well, I have a BR-8 recorder and an external zip drive (I think I need a solution cd) so I gave up on that idea and tried to record my tracks to tape so i could take it somewhere and get it on cd. the problem is the tapes sound like shit it doesn't sound like anything that I recorded. I don't have instructions for my boss so I don't know if I'm doing anything wrong or not. I want to make cd's. Someone help me please! I don't have a lot o money trying to work as cheaply as possible without compensating my sound!

Well first off you gotta figure out how to mix and eq so your tracks will come out sounding pretty good. Like when u record u have to check the levels and stuff to make sure u arent clipping(the red light). If you still need help hit me up on AIM or Yahoo. I see you are a female so i can def help you out sister.

First, here is the quick start guide for the BR-8 http://www.rolandus.com/uploads/CMS/Downloads/181/br8ts_turbo.pdf .

After EQ, mixing, setting panning, etc, and you're ready to make a CD, the easiest way, if you have a CD burner in your computer, is use a patch cord that has a mini-stereo (1/8") to two RCA male. The RCAs will be connected to the stereo Audio L&R -out on the BR-8, the mini-stereo plug will be connected to computer's soundcard Line-In.

If you have Nero 6 or 7 as your CD burning software, in that bundle is a program named Wave Editor. This is also pretty powerful audio wave tweaking software. If you don't have Nero, than the free MusicMatch player www.musicmatch.com has a soundcard-in recording option.

Post back here if you have Nero and if I have time will walk you thru the steps for setting up the software.

your only other alternative is to buy a stand alone cd burner/player, like one that would fit in with a home stereo. run the rca outs to the rca input of the cd burner. hit record on the cd burner then play on the br-8.

You should find a tools called br8 converter or br82wav, that you can use to get wav files from ZIP disks. You have to have a PC with zip disk and then can import tracks as WAV. Drawback: you gotta mixdown first on the br8...
