I need some good current music to test subs, mids, and highs on pro level gear, such as JBL, Mackie, EV, etc. These are for LIVE performance. So I suppose the music should be geared towards whats heard now in the clubs, but I don't go to clubs anymore. Long story. I am a metal head, not into Rap, or Hip Hop so I am out of the loop.
Some song suggestions would be great
It is a tough call because there are so many variables like were are the speakers how big the venue etc.
To me it should be clear and clean if you want some songs.
Pick ones that you know well.
For me that would be Pink Floyd Welcome to the machine. (will test the subs nice)
as well as most of Dark Side of the Moon.
I would also play some classical or baroque maybe some opera.
Toss in a bit of Reggie to round it off.
To me subs should have punch but a clean and not muddy sounding and not overpowering the rest of the system.
Hi's should be clear and crisp not harsh sounding.
Mid's should be well defined.
Low's shoud accent the lower range with out drowning out the rest of the system.
Plus it should sound good at a low level as well as a high level.
I my self have a EV system and it sounds so nice I use it just for back ground music in the house my wife loves the sound of it to.
So take your G/F or wife with you when you listen and get there input as well. ( use something there used to ).
Also if you can set them up were your going to use the system. Will sound difffent in different locations ( will need to EQ for the room )
I hope this helps and this is my own opinion others may have different points of view. Sound can be so subjective depending on the person and there ears.
