You Have No Idea.....
I was sitting here wondering if its possible to have 2 COMPUTER KEYBOARDS connected to the same computer.

One for typing... And the other that is ALLLLLLLLLLL HOT keys for your DAW ;) Is this possible. Im sure it is! but how : )

Has to be. My wife has 2 monitors for her computer at work because of the type of creative programs she runs, so there must be a way to connect 2 keyboards, but I am not the computer type that can tell you how.

Multi-monitor is a different beast.
I have 5 monitors but only the one keyboard unfortunately :)

I'll have a search around tonight. Its certainly not a common idea but it may be possible.

Yes, it is possible. I have done it.

First time, I found myself at the office with 2 keyboards- one with the little round plug, the other with a USB plug. Just for fun, plugged them both in. Both worked. No problems. I could type on one, then on the other, no worries.

When I held down a different key on both boards, the screen would alternate the characters, something like this:

gkgkgkgkgkgkgkgkgkg...

Another time I tried it with two USB keyboards. Same results.

Multiple monitors require multiple monitor cards (and an OS that will support multiple monitors- Win 95 and earlier does not.)

But in that setup both keyboards just perform a duplicate function - both typing with the same layout.
The OP was asking if its possible to set one up with shortcut keys on it.

I assume it would need some special type of keyboard/HID driver, then something to run shortcut macros.

I haven't looked yet - just got back from college -I'll have a search in a sec :)
