I am looking for a high-end soundcard that has 1 optical in and at least 2 analog (1/4") ins/outs (pref 4...price depends though)
...should also have 24/96 capabilities.

will be running win XP....need a card with good support/drivers...low latency (pref. below 3ms)...low noise, ect...

any suggestions would help me out alot. thanks

Take a look at the ST-Audio DSP Value http://www.staudio.com .

24/96 card, 2ms latency at 96khz, S/PDIF optical & coaxial, and it's well under 200 bucks. The only thing I wouldn't be crazy about is the RCA's for the analog I/O.

I use it's big brother, the C-Port, and I believe it uses the same converters and drivers with the main difference being 8in/8out with a breakout box. Awesome card.

Also, check out the M-Audio Audiophile - I'm not sure about the latency, but it's got similar specs and M-Audio is well known for high-quality pro-sumer cards.

cool thanks...

the RCAs on the ST-Audio DSP Value are a turn off... i'd preferr 1/4"

What about this guy... http://www.digitalaudio.com/
looks like a quality card that also has an optical option as well. anyone have this?

Unfortunately for roostmusic, the audiophile doesn't have optical in. The digital i/o is spdif.
