I´m about to go to New York, where I´ve never been before, and I´d like to check out a few music stores. Are there any you can recommend? The only ones I´ve found on the net, so far, are mannysmusic.com and bhphotovideo.com.

I´m looking to buy an AKG C414-BLXII and a Senneheiser 441, so I´m not really interested in places that only sell guitar or drums etc but audio equiment.

Happy for answers.

Sam Ash! They have a whole block basically. There's an entire store for Pro Audio.
160 West 48th Street

B&H Photo/Video is a good store. They have good prices and have a whole Pro Audio section.
420 Ninth Avenue

I've never been to Mannys, but I've heard good things. I think they may be more instrument oriented though.

There's a ton of other smaller ones, but I think for Pro Audio, you're best off going to one of those. I think B&H might have the best prices.

thanks!

Trouble is though, that, acording to their websites, neither Sam Ash or Mannys sells Senneheiser MD441. Bhphotovideo do, but the 441´s are out of stock there...

Of course I could shop around and see if I find something, but because of my limited time, it would be nice to know where to go before I get to NY...

Thanks anyway.

B&H has a dedicated sound room JUST for broadcaster/vocal mics. You can try them all from Neumans to Nt1a's...but you are correct that there are NO 414s in stock, they even sold the floor model! They have about 30+ mics set up and ready to test and the salesman was very cool. (Look for the redheaded kid, you can't miss him! ;) ) Mannys and Sam Ash sell the same shit and it's all behind a glass case. If you're serous about getting a high end mic go to B&H, test them out and make your final decision.
