I'm looking for an all-around quality cardioid to use for drum recording (overheads) and mic'ing guitar cabs. So generally it would have to have some range Hz wise. It'd be nice to spend close to $100 for a pair. I know for 100 bucks I am limited, especially with sound quality.

Now I've researched a couple so far:
1.Nady's CM88
2.MXL's 990 & 991 pack
3.Senheiser's e609(which I know is generally for amp mic'ing)

Any Suggestions?

i've read good things about some these mics for overheads...
thinkin about getting a couple myself

they're deffinately within your/our price range

Its possible these might be good for some recording. I found a few sound samples and it seems these definitely pick up high's better than lows. They almost seem too cheap to be true...

Naiants seem to constantly get praise (and on my list of to buys soon), although if you're really looking for cardioid mics, they are omni. Even though they are omni, for <$100 they are probably your best for decent overheads.

You can also look at a pair of MXL 603s. I'm not personally fan of them, but for the price they will get the job done. You can ususally pick up a pair for around $150 on ebay, cheaper used. All the drum overheads tracks here were done with them: http://www.myspace.com/domestudios

Last suggestion (although I personally don't have one) is take a look at getting a pair of AT2020's. You can get two of them on ebay for ~$120 right now.

AFAIK, those are pretty close in sound to the CM90s I have. Barely usable is being kind. I've done a full recap throughout, but I still need to figure out how to get the bass response up to a usable level. Maybe adding another mylar spacer in the capsule would help, or maybe I just need to clip out some high pass filter in the circuit.... Dunno.

They're hell for modding, too. The traces are too thin and apparently aren't glued to the board with a high enough temperature glue, so you'll lift them constantly just trying to unsolder pretty much anything. There's one trace that I find that I lift pretty consistently on these mics.

Do yourself a favor and stay away. Far away. :)

I'll give a thumbs up on the Naiant mics. Jon makes pretty sweet gear. You won't find anything of remotely close to that caliber in that price range from anybody else, IMHO.
