Aaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh nooooooooooooo!!

Frankly that site used to be very good, but has declined over the years....I mean c'mon, just read the titles of the latest articles:

"IDE-RAID with notebook drives : quick and quiet" : that's got to be one of the dumbest ideas I've ever seen on the web...

He uses 2 slow notebook hdd in a raid 0 array to try to speed them up...hahaha!

Hey RWhite. I have been watching you!!! (scared now? :))

Do me a favor and write an article about this stuff. I am of course serious, and wouldn't even suggest it unless I felt you COULD write an article about putting together a computer system for recording. It is very easy to link off site, or to just throw out tidbits here and there, but I think you are capable of a lot more than that, thus I am going to formally challenge you to do more than that!!! :D

Write it, and get a hold of me. I will MAKE SURE that it is well read, and that you get deserved credit. I am trying not to let the cat out of the bag, but some cool things are going to be happening around these parts, and would love to see you involved because you have been a great contributer to this site.

Please don't come back with any silly "I would prefer to stay low keys" bs either!!! Like it or not, you have been recommended to be moderator of this forum (er, yes, in fact, BY me!!!) and I think you could offer a great service to the community with a more "formal" type of writing.

Now, shrink that head down a bit boy and get to work!!! ;)

I dont really go to Tom's much anymore but its great for people with questions like "What is RAID?" or "How do I build a computer?"
 
I think the best way to learn about computers is to do the same as many people here do to learn about recording : find a BBS that seems friendly and informative (and deals with the subject you're interested in!)
 
I agree with you db51 - I learned things I know about computers, Linux, web development etc through BB's and online communities.

I am just glad that I can feed my recording habit with this board. :)
