Been doing a search most of the morning but couldn't find anything.

What albums do you consider good reference points for your mixes?

I guess the obvious ones are Dre's Chronic albums but are there any others you listen to and think that's well mixed.

I always liked The Infamous album by Mobb Deep. A dated sound compared with today's music granted but something I always seem to have on when I'm in a mood to mix.

Are there any others you guys would suggest? Maybe some newer albums that you've thought were mixed well.

In my opinion most of the newer stuff is not mixed as well as the music from the late '90s. I think DJ Quik has some of the most well produced music out there. Whether or not it's the style you are looking for most of his albums are great to use as a reference. I would say his production quality is as good if not better than Dre's albums.

The only Quik song I have from memory is that Dollars and Sense song. I'll have to check some of his catalogue.

Any others you'd suggest?

I agree 110% with J. Quick is on point with the mixes and production. I dont necessarily have a specific album but Alot of the stuff from the 90's and 80's I get alot of inspiration from (mixing and production wise). To me stuff from 04 and beyond are just apart of the loudness wars mixing.

yeah quik is on top of his game. dre did a hell of a job with em's relapse also.
