My band, Good Timing >
Im doing like little mobile studio and im recording my friends band. All im going to bring is my computer my mbox mini and my mixer. This is a drum recording of my kit with my MXL R144 as an overhead and a 58 on the kick and a 57 on the snare. I ran it through my mixer and into my mbox. this is with some compression.. Do you think its a good enough sound?

Thanks. I could Bring my us 1800 and all my cables and mics. But if you think this will work, that will be great!

With some EQ on certain mics I'd really dig it. How it sounds with the rest of the band is more important, but at first listen I thought there wasn't enough low end 'thump' from the kick. Could be the 58. Could be the tuning. I could be 100% wrong. And the snare was the opposite for me; not enough 'snap', but that's probably the tuning. Again, it's personal, and depends on the music and/or the other drummer. But it certainly isn't horrible. It's decent, and very good for a free engineer. The drums are balanced, and they sound like drums. I doubt you have much, if anything, to worry about.

be sure you have that kit tuned properly. you would be surprised at how big of a difference it makes when you put mics on a well tuned drum kit. don't muffle the drums with anything except maybe a little on the kick.
