Ran across this today at the Nemesys site. Probably the best general document I've seen for tuning Win2K or XP for Audio.

Although this mentions shutting off services that are not needed, it does not go into detail on to which ones could be shut off other than a few critical ones.
If anyone has seen information about XP services that can be shut down, or that at least describes them I would be much obliged.
