any help??

well i'm trying to get a like hardcore/alternative distortion sound and i'm using an audix i5 dynamic mic and i'm just tryin to get a cleaner distortion sound

You might try to ease up on the gain, usually when you record you don't need quite as much gain as you might think.

Haha, define 'alternative' distortion

Couple of things

1) Do you not like the recorded sound of your distortion, or your distortion full-stop?
2) Do you record to DAW or standalone recorder?

Have you tried the mic in many positions? Where it's pointing at the speaker will make a world of difference. Can you describe what's wrong with the tone?

Also, make sure the mids are cranked.
