Well it depends on what you want to do.
Do you need to record 16 channels at once? If you're tracking bands then it would be useful. If it's just you and a guitar, it's probably more than you need.
It doesn't come with any connectivity to your computer so you'd also need to buy the add-on firewire card. You'd need to compare the all up price of that vs. other smaller integrated units from the likes of Presonus or Motu (or Mackie). If you only need say 4 inputs, you can save some cash & put it towards a nice mic or something

i need more than i have (8) i record drums, and i'd like to record every drum plus alot of room mics, so this seems ideal. i like the idea of having the mixing board, rather than a software integrated interface, which i hate.
