Good Compressor

Hello everyone.


I would like to ask, if 500 dollars is enough to buy a pretty decent compressor.

If you guys know, please tell me what is the name of it.


I also would like a microphone preamp, tube.

Also if you can throw me a tip on that too, which one is good and the name of it.

At one end, an RNC by FMR is a dandy little compressor under $200. There are some Behringer compressors for a little less that are OK but still not in the same class with the RNC.
 
This is one of those deals where you're going to mostly hear one answer- FMR Audio RNC. Remember that compressors can be a way to control dynamics, or they can be a tone shaping tool, as in a Joemeek. Just don't use one when you need the other. If I had $500 bucks to spend on compression, I'd buy an RNC *and* a Joemeek MC2, and have about $125 left over for a 'Ho'. It would be a while before I looked at another compressor, because it would start at $1000 (used)-Richie
