good books for engineering?

I'm pretty new to recording and I want to educate myself more on the engineering side of things. I've been studying a book to learn the ins and outs of Logic Pro (Apple Pro Training Series: Logic Pro 9 and Logic Express 9), but I'd like some recommendations on a good book to read for general engineering techniques. Thanks in advance!

I'm assuming you need a basic book. Lifekacker has this 30 page pdf which is a good place to start, but I would recommend this

Mixing Secrets for the (Small?) home studio.

Can't remember if it's small or home in the title, but that book has more information than any of the other books that I've read so far for someone just starting out. Real great.
