Hello, I'm new to this forum, and I am not even a keyboard player. I am open to suggestions, for a good all around sound module to interface with my midi setup for my
home studio. Some thing with multiple analog outputs(maybe digital also?) I would eventually like to interface a midi guitar setup with this, but also use it as a sound module for my consumer level keyboards,(psr 530 etc.) and computer. Say around 400-500 bucks? If thats within reason. Not looking for top notch stuff, just good enough for home recording, but better sounds than my present stuff, and a sound blaster. All suggestions would be appreciated. thanks

PS, can someone show me a link to give me a clue on what soundfonts are and how to use them(on the soundblaster. Its WAY confusing, with banks, configure etc. I read the manual, Ha! Didn't explain a thing. Mucho gracias!

Proteus 2000 has 3 sets of analog out, SPIDF, 2 sets of midi. It may be a little more than that though. For $400 check out a roland jv1010.

Thanks subtractor. the Proteus sounds fantastic. Whats a good round average $ for these? Maybe I'll just save longer. Theres no hurry.

You can save alot of money on ebay. Do a search on ebay and see what they're going for. Or search somewhere like musiciansfriend.com for new prices. Browsing musicians friend or similar site is really a good way to learn about what's available, the specs, and prices.

Just scanned ebay. Looks like I might be a Proteus owner sooner than I thought:cool:
Thanks a mill.

I saw an "not factory sealed" one at Music123.com for $499.
It can't get much better than that!
It's a great module for what you want to do, and it has pleanty of expansion options. Even if you can't get the $499 item, normally they sell now for only $599 everywhere. Save up the $100 extra,
and go for it.

Second opinion helps

Hey thanks simajanpa, now I am convinced, not that I wasn't already after reading about it. Toooo good. This is exactly what I'm looking for. Thats what I like about this forum.
Experienced input. now, what does simajanpa mean, or is that your real name? I never know for sure, as I read a persons sign in name here, and its a different one on another forum. Thats ok though, I just never know. Anyway, just curious. Thanks again
interesting though.....

My handle is made up from some of the letters of all of the peoples first names in my family. Simple as that.
