Finished recording this a while back. This is one of our original songs back in my band days. I was going for a 70's feel. Take it for a spin and tell me what you think.

Stereo

Thanks in advance.

EDIT: For those who prefer to add 4.7MB on their hard drive, I attached the mp3 as well.

70's feel but not sound.
Good job given your limited resource list.
There seem to be a couple of timing issues from the bass player - or it may simply be that the bass & kick drum don't lock together.
Cool song, I liked the solo - that was very 70's no shredding - good on you. I've been listening to some Paul Kossof lately so enjoyed it.

The bass was my fault. It was my second attempt at playing bass. I tried to outsource but didn't have any takers. I ended up trying to line up waveforms with the kick as best as I could. Some fell right in, some were impossible so I took what I could and ran with it. I just need to practice bass playing to prepare for the next project. I'll check out Paul Kossof. Thanks!!!

listening ......... nice tunage ....... kinda a muffled sorta sound. I'm hearing some glitches in the drums also, not just the two of ya'll not locking up.

I like it quite a bit.

Yeah I'm noticing some timing issues with the bass, and to a lesser extent, the guitars.

The guitars are a little fuzzy and undefined. No attack to them. Notice when they really try to kick in at :17, they don't have a huge impact.

The drums are a bit far back in the mix. The snare definitely is.

I liked the lead guitar tone.

There is a section that has just a vocal and the bass. I think that would work better with the vocal and guitar.

There is something strange with the vocal early in the song. Some strange effect on it.

I liked this - cool sounding song and I like the vocal. The timing problems didn't seem too apparent or distracting to me. The sound is a bit muffled but it works pretty well. My suggestion to make the guitars "bigger" would be to turn down the vocal slightly, and bury it in the mix a little more. It would sound pretty cool to double the vox and split them left/right also.

I can only pile on with all the comments. Great tune though.

@ltbob, tripleM, jmasek, track rat - hey, thanks for all the feedback. It's a mixed bag. So I'll keep doing the good parts and try to improve on the not so good ones.

While some of the not-so-good observations were actually conscious decisions, there definitely are things I need to work on, production-wise. I'm taking notes.

Personally, I'm happy with it. It's sort of what I expected given my current technical and logistical limitations. It's still a HUGE HUGE leap from my first version back in 2005 (Here it is... if you care to listen to the crappy version: View attachment pill - stereo.mp3) when all I had was a $5 mic, 4-track tape, a drum machine and Audacity on a DELL desktop and not a lick of knowledge about compression, EQ, etc... etc...

My plan is to learn and keep working on new songs and improve my chops (and maybe by then I may have found a real bass player!) then re-record Stereo in the not so distant future.

Thanks again!
